  • Skyland is a multi-use creative and community-focused venue designed to host events, arts programming, live performances, film screenings, workshops, and family-friendly activities while revitalizing a historic local building.

  • We define the arts broadly. For Skyland, the arts include visual art, music, film, theater, performance, comedy, writing, storytelling, design, craft, culinary experiences, creative workshops, cultural events, and community gatherings that bring people together through creativity.

    This is not just about traditional art. It is about creating more opportunities for people to make, share, learn, gather, celebrate, and experience something meaningful in the mountains.

  • Yes. Skyland Arts Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

  • We use “Skyland” to describe the connected mountain communities across the region, including Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead, Blue Jay, and Green Valley Lake.

  • We are building a flexible arts and community space for performances, movies, classes, markets, workshops, celebrations, exhibitions, and events year-round.

  • No. Artists are central to the mission, but the space is for the whole community. It will be a place for locals, families, visitors, performers, makers, students, small businesses, nonprofits, and community groups to gather, learn, celebrate, and experience something new.

  • Yes. We welcome business sponsorships, in-kind contributions, services, employee volunteer support, event partnerships, and community collaborations.

  • No. While some adult events may include alcohol service, Skyland is not intended to function as a traditional bar or nightclub. The vision is much broader and centered around arts, culture, community, and creative experiences.

  • Our vision is for this to be a pop-up movie theater. The long-term vision includes community movie nights, special screenings, classic films, premieres, and cinematic experiences tied to the building’s historic roots.

  • Both. Skyland aims to create something locals genuinely benefit from while also attracting visitors who help support the local economy.

  • No. Many events would be completely alcohol-free, including family events, workshops, youth programs, and community gatherings.

  • Parking and access are an important part of our planning. We are exploring a combination of nearby parking (including a 70+ public park-n-ride nearby), drop-off areas, shuttle options, and partnerships to make events as easy as possible for guests.

    We are also in conversation with local transportation partners about how to support larger events and reduce congestion when needed.

  • The team behind Skyland comes from a background in filmmaking, events, and creative production. That experience helps bring professional-quality programming, technical knowledge, and unique opportunities to the mountain community.

  • That is one of the goals! A successful Skyland could help create jobs, increase tourism spending, support local vendors, and bring additional activity to nearby businesses.

General

  • We are fundraising through a focused 90-day campaign because Skyland is at a critical moment.

    We have the building, the vision, and growing community support, but we need significant funding now to complete the next phase and keep the project moving forward. Without that support, we will not be able to continue the building effort in its current form.

    This campaign gives us a clear window to determine whether there is enough donor, community, and partner support to bring Skyland to life.

    Funds raised will help support critical building needs, including interior improvements, code requirements, equipment, furnishings, and launch planning.

    If we reach the level of support needed, we can move closer to opening the doors. If we do not, we will communicate clearly with donors about next steps and refund options.

  • Your gift supports the next phase of the building, including buildout, code requirements, event infrastructure, seating, lighting, sound, projection, furnishings, and launch operations

  • Financial contributions are the most direct way to help us complete the next phase of the building, BUT we are also looking for many kinds of support.

    We are currently seeking:

    • Donations to help fund the building, equipment, and launch costs

    • Major gifts from individuals or families who want to help bring the space to life

    • Business sponsorships from local and regional companies

    • Professional services including construction, design, legal, accounting, marketing, event production, and technical support

    • Programming partners including artists, instructors, performers, filmmakers, chefs, makers, educators, and cultural organizations

    • Community connections to donors, foundations, sponsors, grant opportunities, vendors, and potential partners

    • Volunteers to support events, outreach, setup, hospitality, and future programming

    • Board and advisory support from people with experience in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, arts programming, construction, real estate, finance, operations, or community building

    • In-kind donations of materials, furniture, equipment, fixtures, tools, supplies, and services

      • Building materials and finish supplies, furniture, fixtures, and outdoor furnishings

      • Sound, lighting, projection, and event equipment

  • Yes. Donors will receive a contribution receipt for their records.

  • Yes. If we do not raise enough funding to move forward with the next phase of the building, donors will have the option to receive a refund. At the end of the 90-day campaign, we will share the outcome, next steps, and refund process with all supporters.

  • Yes. We are actively exploring grants, foundation support, public funding opportunities, and private philanthropy.

    Because many grants require matching funds, proof of community support, or a more complete project plan, this 90-day campaign is an important step. Strong early support helps make Skyland more competitive for future grant funding.

Donations + Support

  • The plan is to use flexible, retractable seating rather than permanent fixed seats. This allows the main hall to transform depending on the event.

    In theater mode, seating can telescope out for movies, performances, talks, and screenings. For markets, weddings, concerts, workshops, and community events, the seating can fold away to create an open floor.
